Private Lessons - Novice to Advanced

Would you like to learn how to fly fish or cast a fly rod? If you have been wanting to pick up your first fly rod, learn the basics of fly fishing, improve your casts, or learn to haul for that fly fishing trip of a lifetime, give me a call — I can help.

Fly casting lessons in Connecticut (CT) or Rhode Island (RI): Individual or a group up to 4 are designed to accommodate novice to advanced anglers. Fly casting lessons range from a 1-hour intro to a half day of instruction. Lessons are offered outside on the lawn or sometimes on the water.

Topics of discussion vary and can include:

  • Fly casting lessons

  • Fly fishing instruction

  • Rod, reels, lines and leaders

  • Rigging up your outfit

  • Knots

  • Fly tying

  • Fly selection

  • Wading & wading equipment

  • Fresh & saltwater fly fishing

  • Reading water

  • Fly casting & wind

  • Fish & landing fish

Equipment:

All quality fly rods and reels are provided so there is no need to run out and spend money without having tried it first, but please feel free to bring your own!

Locations:

I am located in Mystic, Connecticut (CT) and provide fly casting lessons in New London County, Connecticut (CT) or South County, Rhode Island (RI). Fly casting lessons within Hartford and Middlesex Counties are also available. For other locations, call or email me for availability.

Rates (must be 14 years of age or older and accompanied with an adult)
Casting Lessons:

  • 1 person - $60/hr or 2 hrs for $100

  • 2-4 people - $50/hr per person - 2 hr minimum

  • Half day or larger groups - call or email
